If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again

No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why

Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know

But know we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store

Since you’ll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you’ll always stay

May 2004 - 2nd May, 2009

Thanks, matey, for your constant companionship over the last 5 years. You had a bit of a rough trot including losing an eye to an ulcer but there was nothing wrong with your hearing; just rustle a plastic bag and you'd whistle away asking for whatever food was in it! Despite some intensive nursing in the last couple of days, you gave up the battle to old age this afternoon. Whilst I hate the thought you're now out in our front garden rather than inside in your cage, you'll always be in my heart. I'll miss your whistles and purrs, I'll miss the click of the drink bottle, and I'll miss your cute furry face. Now bound out into all that Heavenly grass and save a spot in the sunshine for me.
Love, Mum (Corrie)

BABY

Baby

1993 - April 26 2009

Beloved pet of
David and Janice Powell

Baby
So you've gone
You have gained the wisdom
And you have gained thy flight

Our friend always at the door
The one who seemed to listen
But could not respond

To my companion
On my long walks through the forest
You were my protector
You were my confidence
Only you could see no fault

I only wish I could have said good-bye
Alas, I am so far from home
How I miss that cool breeze of autumn
While you sat beside me on the front porch

So now my home coming will be a sad one
For I won't have my Baby waiting for me

The only one who did not forget
The moment you saw me again
You knew exactly who was home
And I knew where home was.

Thank You for being our pet
and my beautiful friend
We shall meet again

I Only Wanted You
They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

BLAZER

Dog MemorialOn what has turned out to what I consider to be the most fortunate day of my life, so many years ago, I found my ever-faithful friend, Blazer. From the moment my mom, dad and I rescued him from that puppy mill, he and I were forever linked as one. I remember...

I was just home from college, having just finished, returning home to figure out what I was going to do. My dad’s doggie “Digger”, which I whole-heartedly loved, had recently passed, under suspicious circumstances. My parents were heartbroken. I though it might cheer them up to get a new puppy. So we were listening to this show in Kern Valley called Swap Shop on KVLI radio. A man came on and advertised that he had puppies to go to good homes for a fee. Well, my parents got in their car and I followed them in my truck to find this... for lack of a better description, an old, run-down puppy mill in the belle vista tract of Weldon.

There must have been 25 or so puppies from different litters. They were cute and peppy and tails wagging... aside from this one. While all the puppies were gathered around my parents, I was off from them a bit and this one puppy walked up towards me and I paid it no attention, the puppy looked at my parents and they saw him, but were more interested in this little girl puppy. The puppy then seemed sort of upset and wandered off alone to hide under the stairs to the house. My mom then noticed the ‘loner’ puppy and immediately said, “That one. He has attitude. That’s our puppy.”

The owner of the puppy mill then went and fetched the small puppy with giant feet from under the stairs and handed it to her. He did not like being held. I went over to my parents and pet the puppy and he calmed down. Between my parents and I, we barely gathered enough money together to pay the man for this puppy. My mom and dad got into their car with the puppy and I jumped into my big blue truck and followed them home. My mom, holding the puppy over her left shoulder on a dishtowel, could not seem to control the puppy. He kept trying to get over her shoulder and over the back seat, ever-staring my blue truck and me behind my parent’s car.

BRANDY

Brandy.jpgBrandy came into our lives and hearts in 1990, when we adopted her from the humane society. We remember our first meeting vividly. She was curled up in the corner of the wire kennel paying no attention to the people going past her. A banner “KSTP Radio Dog of the Week” hung above her cage. With some prompting, she got up and came to the cage door. Once outside, she relaxed and we bonded instantly! Brandy did not want to get into the car that first day, but she quickly came to love car rides. Every weekend she would ride along when we ran errands or shopped. Our neighbor called her our “co-pilot” who alertly sat in the front seat. The frequent car rides also expanded the words she knew and responded to. When we said “Rainbow Foods” or “Target” or “video store,” she would get excited and run to the door. She loved to learn new tricks as well. With a few hours of instruction, she was rolling over, walking in circles on her hind legs, and resting her head on the back of the couch. (Yes she was allowed on the furniture and had her favorite spot on the end of the couch!). Brandy would happily perform her tricks for our grandkids both at home and on the many camping trips we took! At age 14, Brandy was diagnosed with liver disease from an unknown cause. But like everything else, she saw this as a challenge. Her strength and “love of live” helped her control the disease and we had three more wonderful years together. Brandy was part of our family for 16 years and we miss her every day. She will forever be in our hearts.

BRANDY'S FANS

I have never been a great lover of animals, but when Brandy came into John and Cheryl's lives, you could not resist  opening up your heart to this great dog. She loved to come to the lake and sniff for rabbits and go on the boat and just enjoy the outdoors. She would get so excited when they turned the corner and she knew then where she was. She was so smart, it was almost like she was a human, being able to understand what we were saying. Sometimes we would have to spell the words and not say them as she seemed to understand everything. We used to "dog sit" when Cheryl and John were gone and my husband, Howie, really liked to take her for her walk every day. When she got sick she didn't whine or cry, she was just so calm, but it was hard to see her unable to stand, or run or be her old self. There will never be another dog like her. I don't think I could ever get attached to another dog, because she was the very, very best.

BILLY & COWBOY

A Quick Note About our neighbors, Cowboy Terry, Karen and Billy:

4/02/2008

I chose the Peternity site because it had the loving thoughts and feelings that I was looking for to put on a marker for my dear neighbor friends whom we lovingly call "Cowboy" and Karen. They lost one of their best friends on March 27, 2008. Now let me tell you, Cowboy is tough as nails with a heart of gold and I've never seen his expression or attitude change very much, but - have you ever see a real cowboy cry? I haven't until March 27.

It was devastating but the results were in, Billy had cancer........months of treatments went by but then came the final word from the doc, "You gotta put him down. The treatments aren't working any longer".

Cowboy choked back the tears, he couldn't speak and in the end he fell to his knees as his friend of 24 yrs. went for the final ride without him. Many friends stood around to say their final good-bye's (as ole Billy had many friends). Cowboy requested the burial sight to be dug close to his home and he wanted it to slowly descended into the ground so that he could walk his buddy to his final resting ground. Cowboy climbed on his tractor to place the first bucket of dirt onto Billy's blanket that he had softly covered the body with.

My husband stopped his tractor before placing the second load on his grave as Cowboy had jumped off of his tractor and went down into the grave for one final good-bye. He cried tears that came deep from within his soul and he took his cowboy hat from his head that he had worn for so long and he laid it on the chest of his friend Billy. He wanted everyone to know that a big piece of his heart was going home with Billy. Nothing more needed to be said and there was no sound around except for the soft weeping of all who dearly loved that tough ole' cowboy and his best friend Billy. It was devastating to friends and all who were surrounding him. A great friend was gone but NEVER forgotten.

"Cowboy" will listen for your hoof beats in Heaven!. Billy was loved by all!!!!!

5/01/2008
After I sent this write up I received the gift you sent for Cowboy. I invited him and his wife to dinner to present it to them and Terry teared up. He couldn't believe there was still genuine love in the world for people and for animals. Thank you for your token of love to "Cowboy". I know he will treasure it FOREVER! Pamela Mullins

BLU BANDIT ROBINSON

From the moment we brought you home, you won us over with your big blue eyes. As a puppy, you always kept us on our toes, whether you were chewing up our shoes, removing the kitchen linoleum, or using the kitchen table legs for your own personal chew toy. You always loved to be around us, making sure to sit on our feet whenever you had the chance to make sure we didn't go anywhere. Not only were you affectionate toward us, you were always ready to play with the latest canine addition that we brought home. As time went on and your health declined, you were content "people watching" in the yard, even letting out an occasional howl or "ma ma" when the urge struck. Even though we had you for eleven short years, the Lord decided to take you home where you could be that rambunctious puppy again. Blu, we love and miss you more than words can say. We look forward to seeing you in Heaven, where I'm sure you'll greet us with a warm welcome. Mommy loves you Bluie!

In Loving Memory of Buddy-Rina

Seven long years of guinea pig joy:
I remember when we "saved" you from that horrible pet store that closed down two weeks later
And when we found out you were really a girl your first time at the vets'
And how you would lick my nose when I was brave enough to let you
I remember how Simon, our cat, used to be afraid of you
And crying when you became terminally ill
And burying you under your favorite bush, Leaving a bouquet of fresh flowers behind

BOSLEY

We found Bosley in a pet store in April, 1998 (I’ve since changed my mind about purchasing from these “outlets”!) after my very first dog, also a blonde Lhasa Apso named Bailey, was found hung in his cage at only 6 months of age. This was due to human error, and I now warn pet owners to never allow your baby inside of one wearing a collar. Of course, my heart was completely shattered, and when I saw that little face in that cage with several other adorable puppies, I knew he was exactly what I needed to heal. Although he looked amazingly similar to Bailey, he was much more “feisty”, which took a little adjustment, but he made up for it with his faithfulness and obvious love for our family (especially me, his MOM!)

He followed me everywhere I went, whether inside our home, or outside in the yard because he believed it was truly his JOB to “guard” me! At around two years of age, he began to develop many health problems, most of which were allergy-related.

BUDDY

Buddy,

When I first brought you home, your first task was to make friends with your Daddy, as he wasn't too crazy about cats to begin with. You quickly won him over with your love and affection. You warmed both our hearts and our laps over the last 7 1/2 years and we will be eternally grateful for that.

Thank you for being such a great big brother to Emily ("Half-Pint").

We knew that one day that we would have to say goodbye to you, but we didn't expect it to be so soon. Our hearts are breaking and we miss you so much.

We like to think now that you're God's lapboy, that you're now warming his lap as He rules the universe like you warmed our laps when we were at our computers surfing the web and doing other things.

Know that we will always love you and while we will be getting a little brother or sister for Emily, you will never be replaced. We look forward to seeing you again on the other side of the bridge where you'll once again warm our laps.

Love, Mommy & Daddy (Heather & Max)
